Are Ice Cream Trucks Still a Thing?
Those of us that grew up drinking Tang and eating Wheaties remember the ice cream man cruising the neighborhood. We’d heard that familiar jingle in the distance and run to grab some money in anticipation of a frozen treat. The sound of the ice cream man was exciting, but even more exciting was getting that perfect character face with the crazy gumball eyes. Life was great.
The days of the ice cream man cruising the neighborhood are pretty much gone. While there are still some trucks that do neighborhood routes, the majority of ice cream trucks now cater. Kids today are inside the a/c playing video games or watching their favorite tic toc videos. Many cities have ordinances prohibiting the use of the classic ice cream man music box to play that familiar music. Gas prices and insurance prices have skyrocketed making neighborhood routes less profitable.
Many ice cream trucks, such as Danny’s Ice Cream Truck of Austin, have reworked the business model and now specialize in catering. Danny’s has been catering since 2010 and recently started catering in the Austin area. Our goal is to create some nostalgic memories for a new generation. We cater events of any size. Your “ice cream man” will arrive dressed in the classic ice cream man attire complete with Bow Tie and Apron. Our trucks have all the modern comforts with a classic look. Our trucks make the perfect backdrop for your instagrammable moments.
Let Danny’s Ice Cream Truck WOW your guests. They’ll love the classic look and feel of our trucks and you’ll love the price. Danny’s Ice Cream Truck is easy to book, affordable and reliable. We’re fully insured and looking forward to your next event.

When you treat your staff with appreciation they will go above and beyond, to help your business grow. They feel respected for their efforts, feel an important part of your business going forward. Afterall, these are ones who help you to acquire and retain new business, keeping clients/customers happy is a team performance. There are so many other options and choices out there for clients. You need a happy, ready to go, secure employee base. You don’t
want a half-hearted effort by an unfulfilled work force.
Encourage them to share their ideas and feedback with
you and your team.
Employees are often afraid to share their ideas and feedback with their employers. But it is
essential for the company's growth, and your employees will feel more valued if they know
they have a voice in the company.
Give them a voice, offer brainstorming sessions and you will find a productive team spirit
Socialize with your employees
Organize an informal, after-work drinks meetup, outside of the office, the team will feel more
relaxed in sharing their thoughts without the formal surroundings of the office.
A fixed amount of cash can be given to the bar manager, so nobody must feel it needs to
come out of their day-to-day expenses. It’s a well-deserved treat.
Celebrate Team Events
When you remember and celebrate an employee’s birthday you will be making a kind
memory for them. A small gift from you with a card will make him/her feel special.
Announce it to the team openly so more birthday wishes can be shared to that person.
Work from Home
Your staff will often get tired of the daily commute either by car or public transport, with
hundreds of others, all in a rush to get the train to be at work on time. Offer work from home
days to give a break from this. Perhaps a Monday and a Friday, as a suggestion to avoid the
Monday morning blues and the end of the week relieve that it’s over for another week. Not
everyone will enjoy their weekend knowing it all starts again on Monday morning. Help them
to enjoy a more relaxed weekend and you will see gratitude in abundance.
Offer a casual dress day, organize a relaxed lunch once a month, providing office snacks,
sandwich selections, veggies, and dips, followed by ice cream! This could be integrated as an
informal business brainstorming session when minds will be more relaxed and open to
thoughts and suggestions for the business. Again, listen to their feedback and ideas. They will
feel appreciated for the opportunity without judgement.
Remember everyone, young or old, loves ice cream. We all have wonderful memories of the
ice cream truck singing along the street.
Book Danny’s Ice Cream Truck to arrive at the end of the lunch, offering everyone’s favorite
flavors. Here at Danny’s, we will make your relaxed day a day to remember. We can offer
our own suggestions, by our extensive past experiences, of how to make it special for you.
Set a budget for these days, it will be well worth it to keep your employees interested and
keen to continue working as part of your team.
Retain your Staff
What you don’t need is a fast turnover of staff, it presents negativity with other colleagues.
Sit back and take in the smiling, grateful faces.
We are living in a world where we are all bombarded by marketing messages. We are tired,
overworked, and need a break to enjoy life. Your guests will most likely attend your event for
one of, if not the following 3 reasons:
1) the guest is invested in the pursuit and hopes of future rewards;
2) the guest wants to avoid their negative feelings;
3) the guest wants to experience a positive feeling.
Ice cream is an all-time favorite that can offer either a momentary escape from reality
or an opportunity for a delightful experience.
This form of pleasure has been passed down from generation to generation.
Ice cream is a favorite treat for many people and it's no coincidence that it is the perfect
complement to any event.
From family reunions and barbecues, to weddings, birthdays, picnics – you name it.
Make Planning the Event Easier
It doesn’t matter what type of event it is; it will take planning. Whether it’s a small, indoor
event such as a meeting at work, a birthday, a private wedding anniversary or a more formal
event like a big wedding, that special birthday that has a ‘0’ on the end or even a BBQ as a
celebration or just a family get together it will need planning.
Hiring an ice cream truck will make the planning so much simpler because that part of the
event is organized by the Ice Cream man.
Ice cream trucks are a great way to attract the attention of children, but what about adults? It
is a good idea to plan an event with an ice cream truck. The event can be based on any theme
and it will be a guaranteed success.
Food is always an important part of the planning. Dietary needs must be considered as an
essential detail. Everyone looks forward to the desserts on offer. Here at Danny’s Ice Cream
Truck, we take special care with the dietary offerings we have.
If your event has a theme, this can also be included in your ice cream selection, just let us
know when making your booking and we can discuss it.

The event can be based around an individual's hobby or interest. For example, an event for a

Ice cream conjures up childhood memories, happy times, and nostalgia. We remember
hearing the ice cream truck making its way down the street. Excited children looking forward
to their favorite flavor. We all have those childhood memories, but it doesn’t have to stop at
a certain age. It’s there to be enjoyed by everyone, older or younger.
The weather plays no part in the eating of ice cream. It’s welcome on hot days or even if it is
chilly outside. It’s an all-weather part of your event menu and is budget friendly. The food at

They can be less expensive than an organized event, especially if you’re on a budget, they can
be tailormade with a theme, you control the number of guests with no gate crashers. Keeping
your numbers tight is important to keep to the budget you have decided. You can’t run out of
food at a kid’s party!
CHOOSING YOUR THEME
Kids aged 3-8 years may like something with soft toys, making butterflies or being creative
with playdoh, blowing bubbles or games like jumping on a chair or beanbag when the music
Kids 6-10 might be more interested in a dressing up theme such as Pirates, Princesses,
Dinosaurs, Fairies, cowboys & Indians, Harry Potter, or a less expensive option could be
fancy dress with whatever is in the wardrobe.
Older kids are likely to go more for a challenge theme. Perhaps sports challenges like
football, softball, badminton, quizzes, treasure hunts inside or outside if possible.
Send or hand deliver the invitation with the chosen theme and time of the party, 4pm-6.30pm
or other, depending on the age of the guests. Bigger kids may want to start later and finish
later, you know your kid’s behavior patterns.
Some kids will want to invite everyone in their class which could become unmanageable and
expensive, so keep numbers tight. You will want enough so they can play nicely together and
sit at the food table together, no walking around with food and drinks. About 12-15 guests is
a popular suggestion. Also allow for parents who will stay at the party with younger children.
Keep your party to one room, if indoors, with the food table in an adjoining room, maybe
borrow some small picnic tables and chairs.
FOOD AND SNACKS
Offer a selection of familiar foods, you don’t want a table of something different which won’t
be touched. Maybe a selection of small sandwiches, veggies with dips. Older kids will prefer
burgers, hotdogs, or pizza slices, with drinks in separate, non-breakable cups.
Make it easy with recycled or eco-friendly tablecloths, napkins, and drink containers with lids
and straws. All easier when clearing up.
Forget the take-home party bags with unhealthy sweets wrapped in cellophane, all kids love
ice cream! Give them the best treat of the party!
